Modern Weaving

Tapestry art is one of the oldest forms of woven textile crafts, traditionally created on a loom.

As an art form, tapestry bears a close relation to painting - it is truly a pictorial art. And although weaving is a traditional craft, which was developed alongside ceramics, woodworking, stone and metalwork, most people are unfamiliar with the textile creation process. From your first knitted baby blanket, to your favourite chunky jumper to the rug on your living room floor, you have been surrounded by woven textile as both utility and art all your life. Now is your chance to learn something new and make a piece of woven art of your own hand.
