Dawes Victorian Twineworks
September 9-10 Heritage open Days
Dawe’s is Britain’s only surviving Victorian twineworks with its original working machinery and it still works! A 100 yard 'Walk' on two floors with twisting and treatment machinery driven by 1927 Shanks oil engine. Saved from total collapse and now restored by local volunteers for everyone to enjoy.
We were delighted that Dawe’s was given the ‘2022 Community Engagement’ award by the Association for Industrial Archaeology
