Forde Abbey Concert Society – Valo Quartet

Recently launched with debuts in Brussels and London, the Valo Quartet brings together four exceptional string players from Poland, Finland, Belgium and the UK. Rarely does a new quartet of such quality emerge and we are thrilled to be hosting them in their first season.  Haydn’s Op.64 No.2, with its changes of colour, surprises, and gypsy finale shows us why Mozart feared comparison with his friend’s quartets. 150 years later the tradition of Haydn still hangs over Britten’s Quartet No.1, through its ethereal opening to the thrilling finale.  If the influence of Haydn is still present, Beethoven remains the supreme exponent of the string quartet, and the warmth and dignity of his Op.74 The Harp reminds us why.

Concert starts at 7.30pm.  Hall doors open at 6.30pm.  All seats are unreserved.

The Bar will be open from 6.30pm and drinks will also be available during the interval.

Audience members are welcome to picnic in the gardens before the concert.  The Coffee Shop door will also be open from 6pm for those who prefer to picnic inside or in the case of inclement weather.
