Forde Abbey Concert Society – ZOFFANY ENSEMBLE
The Zoffany Ensemble is a group of leading chamber music players, originating from Canada, South Africa, Ireland and the UK, who come together regularly to play the great works of the repertoire alongside lesser-known gems. For this concert they will perform Beethoven’s rarely heard but astonishing viola quintet, The Storm, which anticipated the storm scene from the Pastoral Symphony. They will also play one of Michael Haydn’s charming, if eccentric, string quintets which preceded and inspired Mozart to write his works for the same combination. Perhaps the greatest viola quintet in the repertoire, Mozart’s G minor, K.516, will conclude the programme.
Concert starts at 7.30pm. Hall doors open at 6.30pm. All seats are unreserved.
The Bar will be open from 6.30pm and drinks will also be available during the interval.
Audience members are welcome to picnic in the gardens before the concert. The Tea Room door will also be open from 6pm for those who prefer to picnic inside or in the case of inclement weather.
