Notice of Closure, South Somerset Visitor Information Centre

Notice of closure:

South Somerset Visitor Information Centre, Cartgate Picnic Site, A303. 

Somerset Council declared a financial emergency in November 2023.  

In February 2024, at Full Council, numerous savings proposals were agreed by councillors, in order to set a balanced and legal budget. 

The closure of South Somerset Visitor Information Centre was one of those savings.

Closure and clearance 

Our last day of trading will be Saturday 30 March 2024, 9am-4pm. 

There will be a clearance sale of all stock at the centre from Monday 18  March -  Saturday 30 March. 

The Visit South Somerset website will remain operational for approximately six months. 

Please keep an eye on our social media channels for more information - they will remain active until the end of March.

There are alternative Visitor Information Centres and Local Information Centres across Somerset who will be happy to help with any future enquiries for those wanting to visit our beautiful county.
