Taste of Yeovil Treat

The new Taste of Yeovil Exhibition is now available to view at Yeovil Art Space, Quedam Shopping Centre, Yeovil. The Yeovil Art & Heritage Working Group have created 'Welcome Home' showcasing the contribution from community participants and historical objects from the South Somerset Heritage Collection (SSHC). This is showing from 20 January to 30 March 2024.

The treat continues as the Story of Yeovil Community Curatorial Group have been working with SSHC staff and volunteers to create 'Welcome to Our Table.' This display on the Reference Floor of Yeovil Library reflects the Group's  choices around Producing, Preparing/Preserving, Presenting, Partaking and Purchasing from Yeovil's food industry. Notable choices from the Collection include a Lock's of Yeovil seed bag, Tate & Lyle Ration Book holder and a mystery Indian object.

The third element 'Let's meet for a coffee' also curated by the Story of Yeovil Community Curatorial Group is on display at Ninesprings Café, Yeovil. This includes copies of the notable advertising for King Alfred's Teacakes supplied by W.F. Banfield, Manufacturing Confectioner, Yeovil and examples of King Alfred's Cake Fungus!
