Visit South Somerset scoops GOLD Tourism Award
South Somerset Visitor Information Centre wins GOLD Tourism Award!
The South Somerset Visitor Information Centre has scooped the GOLD award for Visitor Information Service of the Year for the second year running in The Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2021-2022.
Bev Stapp, the Centre Supervisor, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to achieve the Gold award again. The last year has been very challenging and it is fantastic to have the work and dedication of our amazing tourism team recognised in this way. During the period of lockdown we developed a new website, produced a new range of guides and itineraries, and increased our social media coverage to support our visitors, residents and local businesses.”
The multi award winning South Somerset Visitor Information Centre is located on the A303 at Cartgate Picnic Site and welcomes thousands of visitors through its doors every year, providing a valuable service to the Somerset area and beyond. The centre provides a fantastic selection of free leaflets, guides, brochures and maps, and supports more than 20 local makers, selling arts, crafts, local produce and much more for the keen explorer.
Other South Somerset winners are The Cotley Inn, Chard, with a very well deserved Gold for Pub of the Year and Long Hazel Park, Sparkford, with Silver in the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism category.
Eat:Festival won a silver in Dog Friendly Business of the year; look out for their events in Yeovil on 23rd April, Castle Cary on 30th April and Yeovil on 17th September as part of Super Saturday.
South Somerset Tourism was also proud to sponsor the important Accessible and Inclusive Award this year, won by WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre.
